The Bible Story: Jesus and the Teachers (Luke 2:40-52)

Connecting Points this week:

  • Help your child find Luke 2:40 in his Bible. Recall stories about Jesus’ birth from December and comment that Jesus grew to a 12-year-old boy. Read the Bible verse.
  • Talk about places your child learns (preschool/school, church). Comment that Jesus listened to the teachers at the temple. Talk about the Bible story.
  • Encourage your child to name things he can do now that he couldn’t do when he was a baby. Pray and thank God that your child is growing

The Big Idea: I can learn about Jesus’ life.

The Bible Story: Jesus and the Teachers (Luke 2:40-52)

Connecting Points this week:

  • Ask your child to tell you about Jesus. Correct any incorrect statements. Say: “It is good to learn about Jesus’ life.”
  • As you travel somewhere this week (store, school, church, etc.), comment: “Jesus traveled with His parents to Jerusalem. Jesus’ parents found Him at the temple listening and talking with the teachers.”
  • As you prepare your child’s clothes, comment on how much he is growing. Say: “Jesus grew and became strong and wise. We can learn about Jesus’ life from the Bible.”

Worship KidStyle: Children

The Big Idea: I can show love to my friends.

The Bible Story: Jonathan and David Were Friends (1 Samuel 14:49; 18:1-4; 20)

Connecting Points this week:

  • Talk to your child about what it means to be a friend. Ask children to name ways they can show love to their friends.
