Preschool Ministry Notes from September 4th

First Look Basic TruthsThis past Sunday in Preschool Ministry, our children learned about David as a shepherd in 1 Samuel 17:34-37. They heard how David saved his sheep from both a lion and a bear – David did what he had to do knowing that God would help him.  This ties into this month’s bottom line: God can help me do anything.

This week, parents of children in Studios 1-3 received the September monthly Parent Cue with inspiration and ideas specifically for parents of very young children. Click here to read this month’s Young Child Parent Cue.

Parents of children from ages 2 through 5 receive a weekly Parent Cue. This sheet allows you to know what children are working on in class each week, including the Basic Truth being taught and a summary of the week’s Bible story, as well as an idea of a way to talk to your children about God during one of four basic times in your daily life: meal time, play time, bath time, or cuddle time. Click here to read this week’s Parent Cue for preschoolers.

All this month, we will continue to work on this same Bottom Line: God can help me do anything. This goes with our basic truth that God loves me. We will spend the next two weeks learning more about David from 1 Samuel.

If you have any questions about the preschool curriculum, please feel free to contact Sara Ingmire, Preschool Minister, at sara@rollinghillscommunity.org.

Join us in Kentucky this October!

Games in Kentucky in 2010

This October, people from all age groups at Rolling Hills will be driving five hours away to one of the poorest counties in our country – Leslie County, Kentucky – to work with Big Creek Missions.  We would love to have you join us!  This is a fantastic trip for families to take together.  Schools are closed for fall break, and the work is something in which people of all ages can take part.

We all have a high calling as followers of Jesus to share him with others.  One of the best ways we can do this is to serve those in need, and this trip is a fantastic opportunity for children to see first hand what that means.  Families who go will get to spend time together spreading the word about Jesus Christ and showing others his love.  What could be better?  Plus, parents are providing their children with a great opportunity to get started in missions, modeling for them what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are most in need.

On this trip, Rolling Hills volunteers will be working with Big Creek Missions.  (You can read more about them at their website here.)  We will be distributing food and clothing, running a day camp for children, working with children in the public schools, and ministering to the community as a whole.  (If you would like to read more about the experiences our group had last fall, check out this blog post.)

The Rolling Hills group will be leaving Franklin on Friday, October 14th, at 5:00pm and returning to Franklin around 7:30pm on Tuesday, October 18th.  Costs are broken down as follows:

  • Adults (ages 9 and up) using RHCC transportation: $200
  • Adults (ages 9 and up) using their own transportation: $150
  • Children (8 and under) using their own transportation: $100

So, a family of four driving together would cost $500 for the entire trip, including food, lodging, and ministry project supplies.  A $50 deposit per person is due by September 11th, and the balance is due by October 2nd.

If you have questions or would like to sign up, please contact Jason Hale, Local Missions Minister, at jason@rollinghillscommunity.org.

Preschool Ministry Notes from August 28th

First Look Basic TruthsThis past Sunday in Preschool Ministry, our children finished the story of Jonah.  This week, Jonah made it to Ninevah and helped the people there repent and return to God.  Once again, children learned about how God knows what’s best, which is this month’s bottom line.

At the beginning of August, parents of children in Studios 1-3 received a monthly Parent Cue with inspiration and ideas specifically for parents of very young children. Click here to read this month’s Young Child Parent Cue.  The September cue will be going home next Sunday.

Parents of children from ages 2 through 5 receive a weekly Parent Cue. Next week, we will be moving to a new Bottom Line:  God can help me do anything.  This goes with our basic truth that God loves me.  We will spend the next three weeks learning about David from 1 Samuel.

Preschool Ministry Notes from August 21st

First LookThis past Sunday in Preschool Ministry, our children continued to learn about Jonah and his faith journey.  This week, he came back to God while in the belly of the whale and decided to follow what God told him to do and go to Ninevah.  The story ended with Jonah being spit out by the whale and heading out of the ocean to deliver God’s message.

Each month, parents of children in Studios 1-3 receive a Parent Cue with inspiration and ideas specifically for parents of very young children. Click here to read this month’s Young Child Parent Cue.

Family Dedication Coming Up on September 18th

Rolling Hills will be holding a Family Dedication Service in just over a month on Sunday, September 18th, at 3:00pm.  This is a service for families to commit to raising their children in a Godly family and to helping their children build a relationship with Christ.

Would you like to be involved?  The only requirement is that parents take part in a Family Dedication Class prior to the Family Dedication Service.  Our next class is on Sunday, September 11th, at 9:30am.  Children can take part in their normal Sunday morning classes while parents learn about Family Dedication and then attend worship at 11:00am.

Would you like to take part in the Family Dedication Class, Service, or both?  Please email Sara Ingmire, Preschool Minister, at sara@rollinghillscommunity.org.

Getting a First Look at our Preschool Ministry

First LookThis past Sunday was a big day!  We had our big change with classes as Promotion Sunday had children moving up to new fun in new classes with new teachers.  We also introduced our brand new curriculum, First Look, which does a fantastic job of reinforcing three basic truths about God to children:  God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.  These basic truths are taught through Bible stories and reinforced with hands-on activities taught lovingly in age-appropriate ways.

At the same time, First look helps to arm parents with tools to be their children’s best spiritual guides.  One tool that parents receive is a Parent Cue.  This sheet is sent home from Sunday school with parents, and looks different depending on the age of the child.

Each month, parents of children in Studios 1-3 will receive a Parent Cue with inspiration and ideas specifically for parents of very young children.  Click here to read this month’s Young Child Parent Cue.

Parents of children from ages 2 through 5 will receive a weekly Parent Cue.  This sheet will let you know what children are working on in class each week, including the Basic Truth being taught and a summary of the week’s Bible story, as well as an idea of a way to talk to your children about God during one of four basic times in your daily life:  meal time, play time, bath time, or cuddle time.  Click here to read this week’s Parent Cue for preschoolers.

We can’t wait to hear about ways you are using these Parent Cues with your family!
