So – we continue our series titled “Myth Busters” (borrowed title for sure) tonight at DOCK@1810.  Doors open @ 6:10pm and shop closes @ 8:10pm each Wednesday.  Tonight, we dive into a totally apropos group game all about animal myths.  Is chocolate really bad for dogs?  Can chickens really live post-decapitation?  Answers will be revealed tonight…at least answers according to the Discovery Channel.  There are those myths where seeing is believing and having not seen, I’m not 100% certain.  For now, we’ll trust the world wide web and Discovery Kids.

There are myths dispelled in scripture too.  Apparently in Jesus’ day, most Jews under the influence of the leading classes had succumbed to popular myths about the law.  Simply following the mechanics of certain commands made one law abiding.  Jesus came on the scene and explained what the law really meant, leaving no room for question (or myth-breeding) about the spirit of the Word and the character of the God who gave it.

This week, we talk about anger (Matthew 5:21-26).  Common enough emotion, right?  Sure.  Anger is born in all types of relationships, situations, and circumstances.  It comes with countless sets of reasons and excuses.  Anger isn’t bad.  Jesus got angry.  It’s not the anger that constitutes sin.  It’s what we do with our anger.  Can’t wait to dive into scripture with you guys tonight.  Hope to see you here.  Invite some friends.  It’s gonna be myth-defying!
